Tallahassee: The Abandoned Fields (The Last Ten Years)

With the strides the Sabbat made along the east coast of the United States within the last few years, Tallahassee has entered a period of transition within the sect. On one hand, the city is valued for it's previous contributions as the staging point for assaults on the north and the enemies to the east and west. On the other hand the city has now been relegated to a position of rest area with the more important position of Atlanta being taken in the eastern siege of 1998. Currently Tallahassee is seen as a valued place of learning and the center of most Knight activity in North America. The easily controlled transportation system with it's heavy emphasis on railroad activities is considered more economical at present then the larger but harder to control facilities in Atlanta. The kindred in the city, most notably Bishop Dorean Kressel a Knight of the Salubri Antitribu, have always nurtured the centers of learning in Tallahassee. The elders of the city have also pulled strings to make sure that the libraries and other university facilities have received more than enough funding to make them sought after schools for students, in spite of the high crime rate surrounding the campus at large.

The organization of the sabbat in Tallahassee is based upon a Tri Bishop system, with nominal leadership being given to Brujah Antitribu Knight Louis Van Estaban due to his presence at the cities founding in 1824. His contemporaries amongst the bishops are Caili Strumson a Tzimisce Unifier, and Dorean Kressel a Knight of the Salubri Antitribu. With the exception of Kressel the other two bishops have maintained their rule for over one hundred years and have formed as close a working relationship as two elders of any clan of kindred might. They use their combined power to put Kressel into positions where his low experience (fifty years as bishop) is a disadvantage. In the siege of Atlanta, for instance the city sent roughly seventy soldiers. Of those seventy soldiers, forty five of them were from Kressel's domain. By and large Kressel's domain seems to be populated by mostly young sabbat and all nomadic packs are greeted there, as the largest communal haven is in his territory.

The largest event, by far in the recent Sabbat history of Tallahassee is the arrival of the Inquisition in March of 2003. Every vampire in the region was vigorously questioned by Judge Inquisitor Fredrick Jackson and his six-person coven in regards to the accusations of infernalism levied against the Neiz Comentants, a pack that was very highly respected for it's commitment to the goals of the sect. In the end the pack was proven guilty after a trial that uncovered the secrets of many of the city's oldest packs and leaders, consequently the pack was put to death on February sixteenth 2004. The trial slightly destabilized the power base of both of the elder bishops in the city due to the amount of support they had given the now infamous pack during their time in the city. The Inquisition has also promised to keep a very close eye on the city and promises a return visit to the city in the near future to make sure everything is progressing smoothly.

In conclusion the city of Tallahassee seems to be either on the edge of greatness or disaster. The next ten years will decide if the sabbat of the city go down in history by breaking the stalemate in Jacksonville and in turn taking Pensacola or implode under the weight of pressure from the two sides and the infighting of the members of the city.

Summary:

Its enemies flank Tallahassee on two sides. To the east, the city of Jacksonville has been contested between Sabbat and Camarilla forces for the past one hundred years, border the city on either side. To the west, Pensacola has been the domain of Quincy Carter, a nosferatu of some age since the founding of Tallahassee.

The bishop of your domain, Dorean Kressel is in a position that promises either great success or great failure, his position has actually improved slightly since the Inquisition visit, but he is still the "younger brother" amongst the three bishops. His domain stretches from the border of North Monroe and Tennessee Street, to the southern border of Quincy and the western border of Interstate ten. The large communal haven in his domain is a large underground bomb shelter that encompasses an area under Florida State campus that was built during the Red Scare of the fifties and never revealed to the public. It was kept secret so that it could have been used as a safe haven for State Government in the event of an atomic event. Influence was used years ago to have it appear filled and sealed in all state, municipal and university records. Nearly no one in the mortal world even remembers it ever existed.

The Greenwood Cemetery has been the center of much of the recent activity involving the issue of infernalism. It was the major meeting place for the Neiz Comentants; as such it was directly investigated by the Inquisition for fear of a demonic presence. None was ever found, but no pack has yet to take up residence there. Currently, some are discussing experimenting with performing the creation rights there to see what kind of results such a situation would have. On the other hand, no one really wants to arouse the Inquisition's suspicions.
