Started to learn better how to deal with aquifers without the threat of our own dead rising. Will try the pump stack method. Embarked in a nice place, only the top corner is sinister. There should be gold, silver, iron and flux.

Year 1051
Summer
Arrived and got underground. Started digging down and hit aquifer 3 levels below surface. Using the pump stack method. Did an abortive shaft 3 levels down before screwing up. Moved over and did it right.

Year 1052
Winter
Finally reached the bottom of the aquifer its nine levels deep. We have a population of 57 and everything on the surface is going well, except we have no stone. Completed the aquifer dig. Started digging sideways and we are already at the layer of the caverns.

Relocating.

Spring
Relocated all industries except farming and wood to the stone levels. Relocating the entrance north above the new digs.
Summer
FB Caccast Ino Ewon a towering feathered alligator in the caverns
Autumn
Digging mostly done. Starting to explore for metals. Surface works nearly all relocated north. Tearing down the old fortifications. Have to do it in stages because dwarves keep collapsing sections on themselves. Moved pasture animals inside to the old first level.
Winter
We struck Galena and horn silver. Later gold.

Year 1055
Spring
While digging out gold in the caverns we let the FB in. Military killed it which is good since we have no other defenses.
Summer
Dug a new well. Rescued several dwarves who got stuck in the caverns when we walled them off. Totally removed old surface fortifications. Built two silver statues one to the FB for the tombs and one for the dwarf who killed it for the mayors office.
Autumn
Switched to smelting gold. A Wereskink. It killed two dwarves before leaving. It appears we expanded the tombs into he resurrecting area. Need to relocate them

Year 1056
Spring
Digging gold all over the caverns. Keep having to kill various creatures. Expanded the military by a squad but they need metal armor
Autumn
Someone is butchering the dogs. We were already down to only 2 males, now both those have been killed. Bought more dogs. Trogs in the fortress. Switched everyone to item handling for a while to clean up.
Winter
A werecamel has come. It was driven off.

Year 1057
Spring
The werecamel returned. Lost three dwarves and a visiting bard this time but its dead. Had to forbid everything in th caverns to keep yahoos from running all over them getting the farthest object they could. Expanded tombs after the werecamel incident.
Summer
Added two more millstones to the 3 water wheel we used to get past the aquifer. Bags are still the limiting factor on dye. Trained honey badgers and Rurthers. Giantess Thudu Thabuxen Nor Adil has come. We sallied forth after securing the lower levels and killed the Giantess. Commissioning a statue.
Winter
Reached the 3rd caverns way below the second. Started making granite blocks down there. Started digging a mine cart spiral down to the granteworks. An Ettin has come. It killed one dwarf who ran out on his own. Switched everyone to recovery to get rid of bodies and parts in the fort as seeing dead bodies is beingming an issue.

Year 1058
Spring
Switched everyone to skilled labors to get rid of rust. Created three new squads so everyone but miners and outdoorsmen are in the military. We have lots of artifacts. The giant was carrying them so now we have a stock pile full of them. Minecart diggers as usual got themsevles stuck. Managed to acquire both male and female alpacas and sheep via migrants, now in the wool buisness. Had to expand upper pastures.
Summer
Returned everyone to thier normal tasks. Started sealing off the cavern exits off the map.
Autumn
assigned two workers to the DEath/Drink/Meal works to do nothing but move food, refuse and clean. Put a hole to the atom smasher next to the butchery and made it a dump. Automated the smasher. Autoamting the bridge worked, but it kept tossing rotted stuff back up the hole and spreading it all over. Made it deeper and rebuilt it. Sent the entire military except one injured guy off to raid a 300 Goblin stronghold.

Year 1059
Spring
No one has returned from the raid. We only have 12 adults and about as many kids. We have mole dogs runing lose in the fort and can't do anything because we can't create a new squad. A migrant came. We can't assign nobles either so no broker to trade, no mamanger, no bookkeepr. Thinking of abadooning the fort. Maybe reclaim later.

FB Maga simomete a great blob of vomit has come. Hopefully we sealed the caverns properly.
Summer
FB is still down there. Still no sign of the mission. FPS is down to 22. The breeding animals are overwhelming the remaing dwarves, can't saughter the fast enough. Purposfully opened the caverns to the FB, FPS jumped to 40s. A fisher killed the FB when it reached the main levels. We elected a new mayor, one who is here. Can't replace the other nobles however. The fisher died from his exposure to the FB. We are abandoning the fort.

Overview

The fort was a successful gold and silver mine with plenty of both left to exploit. We never found the iron that was supposed to be there. It was food and clothing self sufficient. The only thing lacking is iron for armor (most weapons are silver hammers and maces). Even without armor several large incursions have been stopped.
