    Status of the Fort

Down to 6 dwarves. Maintaing a number of cats, dogs, turkeys, and llamas (both male). There is a temple to Tosid the Grizzly Cathederal for residents only, and one tavern the Tummy of Griffons open to all. The tavern has a number of visitors of all races.

There are 5 artifacts displayed in the main dining hall.

The fort has been placed unde seige by goblins many times with minimal losses.

Forgotten Beasts regularly enter the caverns but since they are sealed off tend to wander off without bothing the fort.

    Surface
The fort sits on a single z-level high plateau amoungst the bayberry trees of the Adventrous Forest (taiga) on the world Kar Lathon. Of value on the taiga is blade weed and longland grass. Raccoons are frequent visitors and theives. Grizzley bears, wolverines, reindeer and musk oxen have also been observed. North of the fort is small permenantly frozen creek that has never been bridged.

Further east and just outside the image is a sinister tundra the Slitted Tundra. The tundra is home to blueberries, bilbbeeries and Ice Wolves. Every so often a murk of unknown danger passes through the tundra. No one has been exposed to the murk to see what it does.

The initial dig was into the red sand plateau just west and below the current entrance. Later the entrance was relocated to the top of the plateau and enclosed in a two story stone citidelA fort was built around the entrance/citidel to enclose various outdoor workshops and stock piles. The back half of the fort was used for a pasture. In later years the pasture was walled off from the front of the fort, and eventually the animals wer relocated underground for saftey. The former animal pen is now unused. The interior of the fort is mostly oaved over with a wooden road. On the west side are three windmills powering the millstones directly beneath them. The forts walls are two story with fortifications on the second level and an interior walkway for marksdwarves. Four stairs lead from the ground level to the walkway.

South of the fort itself is a paved area mostly to keep trees from extending thier roots into the upper level.

Outside and to the east is the tavern the Tummy of Griffons, a two story structure. The tavern sits on the lower taiga not the plateau.

    Level 1

Level 1 is located within the red sand plateau. It is accesed from the surface via a three wide ramp leading down from the citidel. The pervious walled up entrance tunnel can be seen to the left of the Trade Depot. Some of the red sand exterior walls have been replaced with stone for security. After passing down a tunnel a visitor will encounter a battery of cage and stone traps. Beyond that is a retracting bridge over a pit of spkies. The bridge is surrounded by fortifications archers can fire through and just past the retracting bridge is the main gate to seal the fortress. Both the gate and bridge are tied to a single pressure plate and active at the same time. The hall beyond is used to stage military squads in the vent of an incursion. The trade goods stockpile sits off the hallway. This has been full of mugs for nealry 15 years now. A three wide stair leads downward into the fort. At one point the hallway south was walled off, this has been opened up again. The main portion of level 1 was initially dedicated to crops and turkeys. Both have since been relocated to level 2 because of repeated tree root incursions. The level's meeting hall has two levers, one for the rear gate and one previously for the gate now occupied by the walls seperating the level from the entrance area. In the rear is a three wide stair down.

To the upper left are the millstones directly beneath the surface windmills. These are accessed via level 2.
