The Reign of Baudouin II

King of Jerusalem

Starting Situation
In 1124 Baudouin is 49 years old. He has 4 daughters; Melisende (19), Alice (14), Hodierne (13) and Yvette (5). His wife Morfia is too old to provides another child. In real life he was devoted to her and refused to put her aside and replace her. He also has 2 sisters, only one of who is married, and a nephew Ithier who is part of the dynasty by his sister Matilda. Both of his brothers are dead and his only ally is the Duke of Armenia Minor. The counties he controls are not centrally located. He is surrounded by Muslims; Fatimid Shite Egypt to the West, and Sunni's to the East. The laws of the kingdom are Agnatic-Cognatic Gavelkind so the younger daughters will break up the realm when Baudouin dies and the next king will most likely be Melisende's husband.

The first order of business is finding a husband for my daughter and heir Melisende. I choose William de Hauteville, the elder son of Roger Duke of Apulia.

The second is to consolidate the realm. I choose to start working on revoking the county of Hebron. That will solidify the Duchy of Jerusalem for me.

      1st War with Fatimid Egypt

    • 1125.6.7 Grandmaster Raymond is plotting to kill one of my Dukes. I don't have time to imprison him. He is sent a letter to stop.

    • 1126.8.30 We defeat another Muslim army at Eliat, follow it to El-Arish and Darum before destroying it completely.

    • 1127.1.1 Hodierne comes of age. She is betrothed to Henry heir to Scotland.

    • 1127.9.2 Duke Pons of Tripoli inherits the Duchy of Toulouse giving us a sizable portion of southern France. I decide to educate his Occitan son Raimond properly.
    • 1127.11.2 After several smaller battles Egypt surrenders.
  • 1127.11.14 I create the Duchy of Auvergne in France and give it to Count Hughes of Jaffa. I also usurp the duchy of Ascalon from the Muslim or myself.

  • 1128.12.16 I change the laws of the kingdom to Tanistry. This will keep it from fracturing while keeping it in the dynasty. This also improves the mood of most the Dukes.

      1st Armenian-Rumite War
    • 1129.6.27 The Duke of Armenia Minor asks for our assistance against Rum. We will come to his aid.
    • 1129.8.23 My daughter Alice is plotting to kill her younger sister Hodierne. That just gas to stop.
    • 1129.10.19 The Pope sends us some money for our good work against the Muslim
    • 1129.12.10 Too late to assist the Armenian army we defeat the major Rumite force alone at Lisdra
    • 1130.1.12 Hodierne is married to Prince Henry of Scotland
    • 1131.12.3 Blanche is sent to Roubaud Bishop of Bethlehem for education. The war in Armenia is going well but Rum has called in the Seljuk Sultanate. this could become a problem.
    • 1132.3.29 We are defeated by a much larger force in Kayseri. Duke Hugues of Auvergne was captured.
    • 1132.5.4 I send the troops home. We can not win the war in Armenia as long as the Seljuks are involved.
    • 1132.9.29 An attempt to assassinate Duke William II of Apulia fails and my complicity is known. I was attempting to kill him so that all of Apulia would pass to Duke Bohemond of Antioch.
        2nd War with Fatimid Egypt
      • 1132.11.12 Egypt declares war on us again over Eliat.
      • 1132.12.20 France agrees to assist us against Egypt. I raise both the Knight Hospitaller and Templar also.
      • 1133.1.1 My niece Elisabeth comes of age. I arrange to marry her to Isaakios Prince of Byzantium
      • 1134.6.23 The war in Sinai is going well. I begin educating my grandson Arnault
      • 1134.12.16 With Cairo about to fall to our army the Caliph asks to surrender. We accept a huge indemnity of 720 gold. Improvements are made all around the kingdom.

    • 1135.10.9 I declare war on Egypt for the rest of the Duchy of Ascalon.
    • 1135.10.19 Duke Roger of Sicily and King David of Scotland promise to come to our assistance in our righteous cause.
    • 1136.2.26 With their assistance and the timely hiring of the Alan Riders we quickly force Egypt into surrender.

    • 1137.10.19 Like clockwork Egypt declares war on us again this time for Ascalon
    • 1137.2.16 My wife is pregnant, I am 64. The war in Egypt will soon be over in our favor.
    • 1137.4.25 Egypt surrenders and pays another large indemnity

    • 1139.9.2 France declares war on us for Rouergue. Neither Scotland nor Denmark will aid us.
    • 1139.9.18 A son named Baudouin is born!
    • 1140.5.17 My wife is pregnant again. France is doing whatever it wants in Toulouse. We aren't going to defend.
    • 1140.7.20 We have surrendered in France. They took Toulouse and Rouergue
  • 1140.12.18 Another son is born. I will call him Gervaise after my brother.
      5th War with Fatimid Egypt
    • 1141.1.1 We declare war on Egypt for Sinai
    • 1141.10.18 Doge Ithier was assassinated leaving his son Eudes de Vitry at 2 years old.
    • 1141.11.13 Egypt surrenders.
  • 1141.11.27 My granddaughter Blanche comes of age. She marries Prince Padla of Georgia.
  • 1142.2.16 Holy crap Elbira is pregnant again. Go me at 67.
  • 1142.6.30 The Pope has offered me absolution for slaying my kin for a small price. it is well worth it.
  • 1142.9.18 I have another son. He will be named Manasses after my other brother, he is an imbecile.
  • 1144.8.4 At age 69 Baudouin II died. The nobles of Jerusalem pass the crown to his nephews 5 year old son Eudes de Vitry.

Baudouin managed to hold on to the kingdom, not lose any territory to Muslims and actually gained territory from Egypt. He fought 5 wars with Fatimid Egypt all won and one with technically one with France but he made no attempt to contest the territory in France. His vassals also gained territory in southern France from an opportune inheritance. That territory is squeezed between France and Barcelona which also controls Provence. A final county, Taranto in southern Italy is isolated and eyed by Apulia. His major accomplishment seems to have been stopping the realm from disintegrating through Gavelkin succession. Though having it passed to Eudes may end up with a worse situation.

The Reign of Eudes de Vitry

Eudes is a 5 year old kid. Completely unprepared and unsuited for the throne. The primary reason the nobles seem to have chosen him was to give the throne to a dynasty member out of Baudouin's direct line just to be jerks. It is apparent that none of them like Eudes.

  • 1144.8.10 My mother marries Prince Hugues my cousin as soon as she becomes my regent.

      1st Salernan Independance War
    • 1145.1.8 Salerno declares independence. They will not be allowed to leave.
    • 1145.6.1 The battle in Antioch is lost. Prince Hughes (who hates me) is appointed spymaster.
    • 1146.4.5 I become and Incompetent ruler because I have a 6/5 demesne. The laws of the kingdom have changed to Agnatic seniority.
    • 1147.1.13 Prince Hugues has become my regent. I have had to fight off those who would replace him as spymaster several times.
    • 1147.2.9 Duke Bohemond of Salerno died. The independence movement has ended.

      1st War to remove the Kings Peace
    • 1147.3.30 A rebellion to remove the kings peace has been started by the Knights Hospitaller, Auvergne is a part of it.
    • 1148.3.12 The Muslims of Maan have declared war on the Hospitallers. Palmyra and Amman have joined them
    • 1148.11.11 The Hospitallers are morons. Instead of going after the Muslim they attack and destroy my army. Sheik Ali of Pera has declared a separate war on them.
    • 1149.5.1 Prince Hugues has given me the task of scrubbing the castle roof.
    • 1149.5.27 I become lost in the forest (A forest in Jerusalem?) but make it back to the castle.
    • 1149.6.17 The carriage goes out of control but I throw myself off before it goes over the ravine.
    • 1149.7.14 An overweight guard comes tumbling down from the ramparts on me but misses.
    • 1149.8.9 Prince Hugues comes to my bedchamber with a dagger.
    • 1149.8.9 Eudes dies at age 10 at the orders of Prince Hugues. He has reigned for 5 years and accomplished nothing. Long Live Hugues son of Baudouin II and rightful king of Jerusalem.

Reign of Hugues I the Reluctant

King Hugues comes to the throne at age 20 (he would say he was king from age 15 but an usurper sat on the seat). He is not the great man his father was but still an able military commander. He has several vices, he is slothful, wroth and content and these will hinder his progress. He comes to the throne with no children but a young wife. The kingdom is still under Tanistry and the nobles support his nephew Charles as his heir.

  • 1150.1.12 King Hugues accepts a White Peace from the Hospitalers. All the wars of the Muslims end also. I try to imprison the Grandmaster, that fails and the rebellion starts anew.
  • 1150.6.13 The rebellion is crushed.
  • 1151.3.25 A war to imprison the Duchess of Auvergne ends
  • 1151.6.11 Egypt declares war on us again. This time for Sinai. The Duke of Barcelona immediately offers to assist us.

  • 1151.8.1 Duke Abelard of Apulia offers to join us.

  • 1154.2.25 While putting down a revolt in Irbid a revolt to lower crown authority erupts lead by Bertrand of Sinai. The Duke of Galilee, the Hospitallers and C. Nabuls are part of the traitorous group. I am forced to hire the Company of the Rose to defend us

  • 1182.9.18 The war continues. We control Baalbek. The pope sends us aid, and we are laying siege to Damascus

  • 1185.6.12 The Pope has called a Crusade for Leon. We will join it.
  • 1187.2.22 We are the major contributor to the Crusade. Leon, Zamora and Valladolid have been taken
  • 1188.1.12 I send the levies home and only keep my retinue and the Holy orders in Spain
  • 1188.10.12 France finally takes Foix, the war ends.
  • 1188.9.30 We reraise the levies and invade Spain a second time
  • 1190.4.9 We have successfully restored Leon to King Blasco of Castile! ARRR he keeps helping France.

Hugues expanded the kingdom in the Middle east, taking the Sinai and a few nearby counties. He did lose land to France far off across the Med. He was a Crusader, the major contributor to restoring Leon, and he secured the throne for his descendants by changing the succession laws.

Baudouin ascends the throne at 30. He is married to Anastasia Duchess of Adrianopolis and has 2 daughters Plaisance and Benoite. His heir is his brother Hugues. The realm has been expanded across Sinai into Egypt and added the county of Taranto in Italy. The kingdom also includes the Mediterranean coast of France which is slowly being taken by France.

  • 1194.7.12 I assassinate the mayor of Deimachar, he was Leventine and a problem.
  • 1195.7.25 Our allies push Genoa to sue for peace.
  • 1195.8.18 Ferrera asks us to embargo Venice. Not after the last war.
  • 1195.12.21 I gain the trait Impaler.

  • 1196.10.30 I have given the Duke to Toulouse independence. It was just a problem anyway.
  • 1196.2.24 The Leventine count of Irbid is no more. His son will be raised properly;y Frankish.
  • 1196.3.1 Auvergne and Salerno revolt.
  • 1196.10.30 A son is born and he is strong! There has not been a Manasses in a while so he will be a named after a Great Uncle.

  • 1202.2.23 Apulia is busy fighting both empires. Now is the time to claim Salerno.

  • 1210.2.2 England has asked for our aid. We will send a small force.

  • 1211.1.1 After a year and success in Cornwall we return to Jerusalem.
  • 1211.8.18 For the first time all of our counties are Catholic.
  • 1213.10.30 My son and heir Manasses comes of age. He will marry a young courtier from Castile despite is homosexual tendencies and provide me with a grandson.
  • 1214.4.7 We declare war on Egypt for Sarqihya while they are fighting a civil war.
  • 1214.12.7 Egypt surrenders, and we didn't even get to take Cairo but we find ourselves in a war with the Emir of Cairo over the same county.

  • 1217.7.23 I have revokes the Duchy of Auvergne, and try to imprison the now Countess of Jaffa and she rebels again while my armies are still in Jaffa. Going to need a count of Jaffa.
  • 1218.4.26 I revoke the county of Eliat from the Hospitaller's, they have been a problem for years. They of course refuse to give it up so war starts.
  • 1218.4.11 My son provides we with a grandson named for me.
  • 1218.6.7 The war for Eliat ends.
  • 1220.9.7 The Bishop of Acerno, Salerno inherited the county of Catanzro which has let use usurp the Duchy of Calabria from the Byzantines.
  • 1220.10.23 The Pope has called a Crusade for Portugal. Unlike Leon it has no holder so we will join the Crusade and take it for ourselves.
  • 1220.12.13 Salerno arrives in Portugal first and secures us a beachhead
  • 1221.12.17 After only a year of battle the Pope grants us the kingdom of Portugal. It is a glorious day, land for all my vassals. I will even release my brother from prison and give him a bishopric.
  • 1222.9.1 We refuse Genoa's offer to embargo Venice
  • 1223.1.28 My son provides me with another grandson Antoine. I am disappointed he is named after a distant relative rather than a traditional family name but the kid is a genius.
  • 1223.5.15 Count Burak of Madaba has a claim on the Duchy of Arabia. We will fight the Burids for it in his name.
  • 1224.3.11 Burid surrenders.
  • 1224.9.5 While planning a war against the Seljuks King Baudouin dies. Long live King Manasses.

    King Baudouin greatly expanded the realm by Crusading successfully for Portugal. He expanded the borders of Jerusalem in the Levant protecting the holy city with strategic conquests. His vassals after some initial issue were happy with him in the end.

    Manasses comes to the throne young at 26. He already has two sons, Baudouin and the young genius Antoine. He is a Crusader, Zealous in his religion and known for his strength. His failing will be his homosexuality and lack of stewardship. He is poised to inherit Adrianopolis from the Byzantine Empire.

    The realm stretches from one end of the Med to the other with only Muslims in between its two far flung cores. Gains have been made in Italy as well.

  • 1224.9.5 The king announces and ambitious plan to unite the territories in the Levant and Portugal by conquering all of North Africa. As soon as he has 100 piety.

    The reign of Manasses was a disaster. It was full of almost consistent revolts, his plans to invade North Africa never even got off the ground. He was constantly in debt and ended up murdering his son and grandson. He is succeeded by his son Antoine.

    Antoine the Apostle



    A genius, married to a genius. He has a son and a daughter already. Ambitious and Zealous but outgoing and patient hopefully he will be a great king. Only 2 vassals have a negative opinion of him.

  • 1247.5.29 Abyssinia calls us back to the war. Unlike father we can afford to send more than a token force. The Religious orders will go.

  • 1251.2.19 After a great feat and hunt we start on our fathers plans. We declare war on the Zirid for Damietta

  • 1252.10.2 With the arrival of the army from Galilee into Egypt Zirid surrenders to us. We immediately join the Crusade for Tunisia
  • 1253.3.25 Tripoli rebels when we try and rightfully arrest him. Hopefully Abyssinia can deal with him for us.

  • 1257.8.29 We landed in the Levant and smashed Adrianopolis's armies and returned our cities to our control. He quickly surrendered.
  • 1257.10.21 We go to aid Abyssinia again.
  • 1258.7.2 The war in Abyssinia ended before we arrived. Antoine came of age (how'd he get that name?) Marries a genies from Gastone.
  • 1259.2.21 I have become known as the Apostle, and so we declare Holy War for the Duchy of Aleppo
  • 1259.8.23 My new wife gives me a son. We will not name him Manasses as she suggests. He will be Hugues.

    King Antoine had great potential, and died young. He did make advances into Egypt, and win the Crusade for Tunisia but if it had not been for the untimely accident he would have done much more.

    Antoine II the Lionheart



    Antoine is just 17 and untried. He is a brilliant strategist but is not spectacular like his father at everything. He has no children his heir being his imbecile brother Gervaise. The realm is at war with Aleppo and only Leon for an ally. A number of vassals have a negative opinion of him. The realm has been expanded further into Egypt, added the kingdom of Tunisia and another county in Italy.

  • 1259.1.8 The kings peace is lifted before a revolt occurs.
  • 1260.4.16 The war for Aleppo has been won.
  • 1260.6.2 The rebellion starts again. I think everyone is involved for independence.

  • 1262.5.28 The mongols sack Constantinople.
  • 1265.9.23 I refuse to help the Byzantines against the mongols, I don't nee that war. I marry off my idiot brother to someone, don't remember who. That reminds me I need to eliminate him before he inherits the throne. Marry my other brother Hugues to a Princess of Leon.
  • 1266.8.25 We have won the war. The damn rebels managed to lose the entire Duchy of Arabia and Calabria to the Ilkhanate, and the county of Bizerte to the Zirids. There are two rebellions for lowering title revocation about to happen both led by Svelsig.
  • 1266.10.3 I pay of Svelsig, imprison Irbid and pay off Kabylia and the rebellions may be under control for a few months. Svelsig needs to go away she has been a problem for years. I revoke Adrianopolis, I revoke Petra from Arabia and give him independence, he owns one county surrounded by the Ilkhanate, lets see how well he fares on his own.

  • 1271.2.28 I send home the levies and mercenaries and ask Leon to assist us in Spain. He agrees.
  • 1271.8.2 The Muslim surrenders to our overwhelming force.
  • 1271.11.22 That bastard Arabia has lost Shaka but somehow managed to acquire Madaba which is rightfully ours. He also managed to get Bizerte from the Ilkhanate and all the while stay independent. I'm not going to stand for that. This should be a short war.

  • 1274.8.5 We declare Holy War for Edessa, one of the only Shia rulers left.
  • 1274.11.7 The Ilkhanate takes half of Edessa before we can. The Pope send us funds.

  • 1276.4.26 The Baron of Caesarea tried to fabricate a claim on Acre, then revolted when I tried to arrest him. I'm thinking this wife isn't working either since she is almost 40.

  • 1278.7.10 My daughter Elizabeth marries the Despot of Castile. The Mongols are laying siege to Athens. Byzantium does not have much left. The minor kingdom of Castile way over in Spain is almost half their empire.
  • 1278.9.27 The Caliph has called a Jihad for Syria. Thankfully al l3 Holy Orders are available. Leon comes to our aid as usual.
  • 1279.1.5 The Doge of Genoa has offered to join us. Some minor Muslims have joined the other side. The Pope joins us.
  • 1279.5.18 My son Hugues is born.
  • 1279.9.15 We have marched deep into Mesopotamia and taken one of the Caliph's allies Taishi Hizir of Qalat Sjergat out of the war. Another force has intercepted the enemy in Bizerte, and a their army has driven their weak forces from Aleppo.
  • 1279.12.6 With the fall of Kuwait to our armies the Caliph surrenders.
  • 1280.1.8 My vassal the Duke of Beja has declared war on the Muslim for Alcacer do Sal. Go vassal.
  • 1280.8.30 I have a claim to the kingdom of Abyssinia. They are not rich territories but I should be able to take them with a fraction of my forces.
  • 1280.11.8 Between my personal levies and my Retinue I assemble 5600 men in Farma to sail for Ethiopia.

  • 1284.1.13 In trying to revoke Tiberius I cause the duchess of Portucale to revolt. Thankfully I held some troops back from Abyssinia. AHHHHH the Ilkhanate has 200,000 men marching through my kingdom! Thankfully they are on their way to fight the Mongols.
  • 1284.6.18 The Golden Horde has become Orthodox. That's better then Muslim I guess.
  • 1285.7.30 Both wars are progressing. I had to recall the men from Abyssinia to fight Portucale but we are not losing ground in Abyssinia. The pope has called a Crusade from Trebizond against the Ilkhanate. I can not afford to anger them right now. Perhaps after these two wars are over.
  • 1286.6.2 I have asked Castile to aid us in our wars. he can not help us.
  • 1288.2.2 Almost depleted of troops Portucale finally surrenders. Once the revocations are done I am able to claim all of the duchy of Galilee for myself. Coupled with the Duchy of Jerusalem I control a solid core in the Levant. I also hold Tunis and Bizerte. I am loathe to give up the last two with the Ilkhanate breathing down my neck but I must divest of something. Tunis and Acre are the least profitable. Acre will go to a Greek homosexual so I can have a claim on Naples, I will have him marry a rather old courtier, 37 hopefully he will have no children. His heir is also a claimant to the Duchy of Sicily. I invite her and her heir Simonis to court and the man Simonis will marry will get Bizerte.
  • 1288.5.3 Marietta the claimant to Sicily becomes my spymaster. The Hospitaller's establish a castle in Safed.
  • 1288.11.16 The Crusade is gong badly. I can see that the Ilkhanate still has 150,000 troops. I will not be joining in. I arrange a betrothal between the Khans grandson and my daughter. They are 8 so there is plenty of time.
  • 1290.2.28 The Crusade has failed.
  • 1291.2.21 The Prince Diego of Leon who was king asks for our aid in defense against the Almoravid. The Kingdom of Leon seems to be in civil war. My vassals are still upset about the ongoing Abyssinia thing but I must help him.
  • 1291.6.17 with our aid Leon defeats two armies in quick succession.
  • 1292.9.21 Leon is sitting with 11k men outside the contested territory while the Muslim takes city after city. Leon does nothing. We are going home.
  • 1292.10.4 The Duke of Aleppo died. We had to give him independence earlier during the Portucale crisis to avoid a larger revolt. His young son sees the light and returns to us.
  • 1294.1.9 The Almoravids and Leon declare a white peace.
  • 1294.11.12 King Antoine II died naturally just as he quells a rebellion by Antioch.

    Antoine had problems getting an heir. He went through 3 wives before a single son was born. He leaves that son 15 years old and unprepared for the throne. His brother Payen at 11 would be a better choice. He managed to hold together the realm, by lucky, the Mongol defeated the rebel armies back in 1260 for him. He proclaimed himself King of Syria. Luckily the Ilkhanate did not attack him. Despite being on the throne for many years he seems to have done little. He is succeeded by his son Hugues.

    Hugues II



    Hues II comes to the throne unprepared. He is lacking in intrigue. and slothful. His vassals dislike him, severely. He is embroiled in a long war for Abyssinia that seems to never have and end. He has a younger brother, and older sister who sister who sits as the Queen of Castile, and two younger sisters. His genius Uncle Hugues will be a problem, particularly since his genius 9 year old son will be around for most of Hugues II reign. The Pope dislikes young Hugues too.

  • 1295.5.18 King Hugues comes of age. With some last minute training by his spymaster and regent he is a better schemer. He will marry a princess of Aquitaine.
  • 1296.5.21 Just three days past a year from the marriage a daughter is born to the king. She will be named Elpis for his grandmother from Abyssinia.
  • 1296.12.21 My mother marries the king of Denmark.
  • 1297.4.18 My sister Sophie comes of age and marries a Mongol who may someday be khan. On the same day word has come that the war in Abyssinia has been won. The title is Elective and all the Dukes of Abyssinia hate me that will be an issue.
  • 1297.5.4 In honor of the victory we will hold a tournament.
  • 1299.2.24 The Duke of Shewa revolts.
  • 1299.10.18 my brother comes of age. He will marry our niece and maintain the alliance with Castile.
  • 1300.10.17 Shewa was defeated quickly. Aquitaine calls us into a Holy war to defend Toulouse..
  • 1301.5.11 My wife has the measles.
  • 1301.6.8 Toulouse has been saved.
  • 1302.12.25 A Quick war for Lasta ends.
  • 1303.2.24 The duchess of Gondor revolts. I can claim France for my wife.
  • 1303.12.20 We have own the war against Gondor only to discover that Abyssinia does not allow revocation. I destroy the kingdom, the vassals will be pissed but they all need replaced anyway.
  • 1303.12.31 Lord Mayor of Zeila rebels
  • 1304.11.15 The Ilkhanate declares war on us for Aleppo. He has over 60,000 men already on our border. We will call in our allies, the Golden Horde, France, Aquitaine and Champagne. France and Champagne will not come they are fighting each other.
  • 1304.12.15 Zeila falls. Genoa comes to our aid.
  • 1305.1.5 The pope comes to our aid.
  • 1305.1.19 Denmark comes to our aid. We have assembled 19,000 men vs the Hordes 58,000 in Baalbek. The do not last long.
  • 1305.3.19 We have defeated a smaller Mongol army in Jaffa of 8000. The Ilkhanate has built up the first army to 90K and has a second of 171K. They are taking cities at a rapid pace.
  • 4.14.1305 The Mongols take city after city in Aleppo in quick succession. The war ends.

  • 1.24.1306 My sister Melisende is betrothed to the Heir of the Golden Horde
  • 1307.7.3 Hugues is now known as the Mild.
  • 1309.6.30 Another son. I will allow him to be called Hamelin
  • 1309.12.28 The Caliph declares Jihad for Syria on us. Genoa offers to join us.
  • 1310.5.3 The Ilkhanate has joined the Jihad along with most the Muslim world. The Pope comes to our aid.
  • 1310.7.4 We send the levies home its hopeless.
  • 1310.12.27 We have surrendered Syria
  • 1312.3.30 We have decided to press our wife claim for France. Aquitaine agrees to join us.
  • 1312.5.21 My daughter Elpis will marry a Prince of the HRE.
  • 1314.4.16 The duke of Shewa refuses to give up the county of Tadjoura. He will have to be put down.
  • 1314.7.27 France surrenders. My wife calls us in against Champagne, the Horde calls us in against Estonia.
  • 1314.10.1 The Ilkhanate is raiding Shewa, we don't need this.
  • 1314.10.13 Champagne has surrendered.
  • 1314.12.3 Our wife calls us into the Gascogne independence war. Our troops are already on the way to Abyssinia so she will wait.
  • 1315.1.1 The Ilkhanate attacks our smaller army in Abyssinia. We send the troops home to rebuild.
  • 1315.6.7 The Horde wins in Estonia. The Ilkhanate ends its raid.
  • 1315.9.9 The Horde calls us in against the Ilkhanate.
  • 1316.9.30 The Horde has won. We summon the vassals and invade Abyssinia
  • 1317.4.21 My daughter Alice is married to the King of Navarre
  • 1317.8.2 Shewa surrenders.
  • 1317.12.29 Shewa revolts again.
  • 1318.5.10 The Ilkhanate declares a raid on Jerusalem. France, The Horde and the HRE all agree to assist us.
  • 1318.10.10 Our wife has beaten Gastone.
  • 1318.11.13 All of Shewa's titles are revoked and I execute him.
  • 1318.5.10 The Ilkhanate declares a raid on war on us for Jerusalem
  • 1320.3.17 By taking Aden we are able to forestall the war long enough for our allies to take massive chunks out of the Ilkhanate. They are down to 30k before they defeat our armies. We liberate Jerusalem. The Pope declares a crusade for Mauritania.
  • 1320.11.26 The Ilkhanate is able to declare victory. The Horde seemed to have stopped fighting for us.
  • 1320.12.12 The Horde calls us into a civil war.
  • 1321.1.27 Champagne goes to war for France again we will aid our wife.
  • 1321.7.21 My son and heir Gervais comes of age. He will marry a genius Byzantine Princess.
  • 1322.8.17 The mongol civil war ends.
  • 1324.2.21 My daughter Marguerite marries the Duke of Provence.
  • 1324.4.9 My wife accepts Champagne's White Peace.
  • 1324.10.29 The HRE calls us in over Gelere and ends almost immediately:

  • 1325.1.28 Hugues II Dies of natural causes. He is succeeded by his son Gervais.

    Hugues III added Abyssinia to the realm and arrange for the inheritance of France by his son when Queen Margarita dies. He lost Aleppo to the Ilkhanate but his skillful diplomacy severely dented their power when they raided Jerusalem.

    Gervais

    Gervais comes to the throne at 19. He is unmarried but betrothed to a young princess of the almost non existent Byzantine Empire. His heir is hi younger brother Hamelin who will be a fine king one day. Like his father before him he is slothful. He has alliances with the HRE, France and Navarre.
  • 1325.4.1 Gondor and Beja revolt for lower crown authority.
  • 1325.6.30 My brother comes of age. He will marry an older Princess of the Golden Horde for the Alliance. France comes to our aid.
  • 1325.7.17 The Golden Horde rejects the proposal of marriage.
  • 1325.11.3 I am married to the Byzantine princess. They immediately call us to war.
  • 1326.2.5 A second rebellion for independence starts. Kairwani, Eritrea, Makuria, and Sinai
  • 1326.8.12 The Byzantine war has ended.
  • 1327.10.23 Gondor surrenders.
  • 1330.12.24 Eritrea is forced to surrender.
  • 1331.7.21 The Egyptian Heretic Miaphysite Pope declares war on us for some crappy province in Egypt. Its not the real pope.
  • 1331.8.26 The heretic has been defeated.
  • 1331.9.7 My mother calls on us to defend against another rebellion in France.
  • 1333.2.1 The war in France is won
  • 1333.6.30 My mother has died and I have inherited France.
  • 1333.10.28 France is a mess. Most of it is owned by independents. That must change. We declare on Provence for Melgueil
  • 1334.3.20 Provence surrenders
  • 1334.12.3 The Duke of Valois revolts.
  • 1335.10.31 Valois has been crushed. France does not allow revocation. I execute Valois.
  • 1336.4.30 The Lords of France force me to change the succession to Elective. Which is fine since France was going to my daughter and everything else to my brother.
  • 1336.9.4 Gervais dies of an illness. He is succeed by his brother Hamelin.

    Gervais inherited France and held it from it regular revolts. He was not king long enough to do anything else.

    Hamelin

    Hamelin comes to the throne at age 27. He is married to a lowborn since no noble of Europe would have him. He has no children. His heir is his uncle. Hamelin's greatest problem will be the rebellious nobles of France. He already starts out with a better opinion from most of them than his brother had.

  • 1338.5.17 A son is born. He will be called Guy.

  • 1339.3.3 The Shia Burids are rebelling from the Ilkhanate. We will grab some land. Our vassals are already attacking Arabia. We declare Holy War for Cairo.

  • 1341.1.22 The Caliph declares a Jihad for Jerusalem. Denmark offers to join us.
  • 1341.6.22 A quick rush and sack of Kuwait where the Caliph is at forces his surrender.

  • 1342.6.19 In the midst of planning to retake territory from the Ilkhanate Kin Hamelin died. He is succeeded by his kinsman Hugues the duke of Algarve

    The kingdom of France was lost to Etienne the Duke of Valois, the consummate rebel. The duchy of Toulouse remained in our hands.
