The Algarve Kings

With the death of Gervais the direct line of father to son kings that streched back to 1124 with only the brief inturruption of Eudes de Vitry came to an end. Gervais failed to produce a male heir in his short reign and the throne passed to his younger brother Hamelin. Hamelin's reign was just long enough for someone to assasinate his legitimate son Guy, and not long enough for him to recognize Baudouin as legitimate. The throne passed to Hamelin's 2nd cousin Hugues Duke of Algarve.

Hugues III

Hugues comes to the throne unexpectedly. Hamelin was young enough to have several sons. Hugues has 5 children, 3 sons and two daughters. His eldest son Gilbert if already 19. The realm is relatively secure. The Ilkhanate is in the middle of an independence war it is losing. The nobles are not pleased with Hugues as king and a rebellion is expected soon.

1342.6.19 We immediately betroth our son to a Princess of Navarre
1342.8.10 A hole has opened up in the kingdom. Whatever.
1343.1.3 My son Giles comes of age. He is better suited than his older brother. He will marry the daughter of a German baron to make up for his lack of intrigue.
1343.1.12 The proposal is rejected? What is that baron thinking.
1343.2.4 The lords of Jerusalem and I agree to revoke the county of Acre from the duke of Makuria. Of course we go to war.
1343.221 The Pope excommunicated me.
1343.5.2 Acre returns to the duchy of Jerusalem where it belongs
1343.5.31 Hugues died of stress. He was unable to deal with the dislike from the vassals and the Pit of Hell. He is succeeded by his son Gilbert.

Hugues III was only king for 2 years. Nothing changed.

Gilbert I

Gilbert comes to the throne much earlier than expected. He is unmarried, but betrothed to a Princess of Navarre. He has bastard son Gaucher but his heir is is much more suited brother.

1343.5.31 My brother will marry a Princes of Byzantium hanging around the court. I think she was a former kings wife.
1343.11.16 Unwilling to wait for her now that I am king I break the betrothal to Navarre and arrange a betrothal to a 15 year old Leventine genius.
1344.4.3 The Independence rebellion begins. The only reason I will fight it to maintain title revocation.
1344.11.8 I have gotten married. The daughter of the Patrician of Ascalon was a very good choice.
1347.4.4 After losing a province to the Muslims our enemy died. The rebellion ends, just so it can start with the same guys in a few months.
1347.4.9 as predicted they rebel again. Haven't even let the levies go yet.
1347.12.23 The Duke of the Aegean declares war on us for Taranto.
1348.9.15 Gascogne declares war on the rebels and promptly destroyed my army in France. I am forced to take a huge loan and hire the Alan Raiders.
1349.1.14 An independence revolt starts with everyone no already rebelling. This sucks I cant even surrender to the revocation revolt because the rebel holding are held by Navarre. Fucking vassals.
1349.2.26 Hormuz has 33,00 hostile troops because they are attacking Ascalon. We are so screwed.
1349.3.31 The Pope excommunicates me. Can it get worse?
1349.12.2 Finally good new a son is born. Valeran will be his name
1351.1.21 The wars drag on. Foreign powers keep taking territory. Another son Hugues is born.
1352.10.2 Another son Berenger. Too bad there wont be enough realm to leave to them
1354.8.30 Ascalon's mercenary army catches our in Hebron. We have no forces left.
1354.12.19 The Pope calls a crusade for Egypt
1355.5.5 The title revocation war has been won.
1356.6.12 I crown myself the King of Egypt so that when the Crusade is won we get the land.
1356.9.10 The Pope has won Egypt for us.
1359.5.29 I have been excommunicated again?
1360.7.11 After 17 years our enemy dies and the rebellion ends. I expect them to start again soon. I trade some land to the Pop in return for lifting the excommunication
1360.9.2 Another revolt to lower crown authority.
1361.3.30 And the independence revolt starts again.
1365.12.2 My son comes of age. He will marry princes of Nubia, hopefully her father will aid us. He does not.
1367.1.21 Prince Hugues will marry a princess of Castile.
1368.6.2 The revocation war ends in a white peace.
1368.10.2 Berenger my third son will marry a princes of France.
1371/10.17 The Pope sends us a gift, we are allied to the Horde in a war against Muslims. My son is trying to kill me.
1374.2.8 Acres has become Frankish. 200 damn years and they finally get the message.
1373.3.17 I have become old. My entire reign has been a series of revolts.
1375.6.21 The mongols have lost their war.
1376.11.26 King Gilbert has died. He is succeeded by his son Valeran

King Gilbert never had a chance. There was not a single year when his vassals were not in revolt, and in most there were two revolts going on. He was in debt most of the time and fighting for his life. He didn't have a chance to raise his son properly or even rule.

Valeran

Valeran comes to the throne at age 26. He is married and has a daughter. And the rebellions continue.

1377.9.22 A son is born. He will be named Baudouin and be as his forefathers.
1378.12.12 Navarre has declared war on us for Toulouse. He can have it.
1379.2.8 Gascogne comes to aid us in the independence war.
1379.5.5 The Byzantine Emperor offers for his son to marry my sister. We need more allies.
1383.4.18 The rebellion is almost over. The Sunni call a Jihad for Egypt.
1383.4.27 The rebellion has been crushed finally.
1383.11.9 Prince Raoul is born. The Pope is aiding us against the Jihad. Aquitaine, Leon, and Genoa also. France and Normandy soon join. We send our armies after the Caliph himself.
1384.10.3 The Jihad has been beaten off.
1385.2.14 I move from being a misguided warrior to a Tough Solider.
1385.3.24 I have decided the kingdom is unwieldy I will grant independence to some isolated areas that are a problem: Poitou, Toulouse, Carcassonne, Adrianopolis
1386.3.27 Isolated rulers are always a bad idea. We declare Holy war for Asyut, a lone Shia. Which is a mistake since Alexandria is already taking it. Instead we will retake Taranto.
1386.7.2 Just as the fleet sets sail for Italy word comes that the Shia Caliph declares a Jihad for Egypt.
1386.9.23 The Pope calls a Crusade for Algeria. Sweden has offered to aid us against the Jihad.
1386.12.22 My daughter marries the king of Serbia and Croatia. Leon joins is in the Jihad
1387.4.26 I have become a skilled tactician
1387.6.24 Aegean islands gives is Taranto.
1387.10.5 Sweden arrives in the Levant. We will take the war deep to the steppes of Russia against the Caliph
1389.8.6 Genoa joins us. We are laying siege to the Caliphs holdings.
1389.9.13 The Caliph surrenders, we will join the Crusade.
1392.2.25 We are declared the king of Algeria by the Pope.
1393.10.19 My son has come of age. He isn't a bad king. Craven but he has potential. It will be some years before he is married, he is betrothed to the daughter of the duke of the Atlas. He is Leventine. It is time to make the switch.
1394.1.2 I am known as the Apostle.
1394.10.22 My daughter Cecile will marry Prince Morokha heir of the Golden Horde
1394.10.28 A title revokcation war is tarted by Galilee. He is supported by Kairwan and Portucale.
1395.8.14 King Valeran has received a crushing blow to the head.
1395.9.26 King Valeran has died. He is succed by his son Baudouin.

King Valeran had a short reign. Just as things were calming down he was struck down in a minor revolt.

Sultan Baudouin IV

Baudouin comes to the throne unmarried. He is betrothed to an 8 year old genius but at 18 he may not be willing to wait. His heir is his younger brother Raoul. Baudouin immediatly angres his noble by crowning himself Sultan not King. His reign will not be long.

1396.1.2 I immediatly grant independance to Gondor, Eritrea and Atlas. They are the most troiblesome and can be reconquered later.
1396.4.9 Followed by Aksum.
1396.6.21 My sister Eleonore come sof age. she will marry the Emir of Cairo when he is old enough.
1396.11.14 The dirty Ibrahimid Emirate is tying to take advatage of our civil war. The holy oders will smash them.
1399.4.6 The Golden Horde asks us to help in a far off war, we will aid him in spirit.
1399.11.9 My brother has come of age. He will marry the heir of Castile.
1399.11.23 the Pope sends us fund s to fight the heathen.
1400.8.29 The Hordes war ends.
1401.5.12 Without going to war I all of a sudden am a vassal of the timurids.
1401.5.30 I have married the eldest daughter of my leige, Princess Khugurchin willprovide me with many sons.
1402.4.13 Galilee surrenders.
1403.2.1 We force Portucale into revolt so she can be crushed. She was part of Galilee's revolt.
1404.1.9 We convince our wife to become Catholic. All of Portucale's counties are under seige. W pay off the 300 gold loan.
1404.3.2 My wife is pregnant.
1404.3.24 The Khagan names me court musician. I guess I shoud learn to paly something.
1404.8.11 Khagan timur has died, his son 15 year old Alchi is now Khagan.
1404.10.1 My wife has delivered a son to me. The nursemaid suggested Fayiz he will be a success as his name implies.
1404.11.23 Portucale has been forced to surrender. I can no longer revoke titles since the Timurd laws dont allow it.
1405.1.1 Cairo has refused to come to 2 feasts now. He will pay.
1405.3.5 Since we are now part of a larger entity and our leige has destroyed the large Muslim states we can start declaring war to reclim our lost territories form independants. Firtst is Tripoli from the Midoun Khganate.
1405.9.29 A 10,000 man Midoun army magically appeared in Tripoli and defeated our army. We can call on the Holy Orders since he is Sunni.
1407.10.12 Tripoli has been reconqured. My wife is pregnant again.
1407.3.12 Armenia revolts with no support in favor of Aymar of Beja's claim to my throne. Beja isnt even with him.
1408.3.3 Another sons is born, Wahid.
1410.1.9 After some inital setbacks we have defeated Armenia's armies, including the allies and the rabble that flocked to him. iArmenia Minor was killed bu his heir continues the fight. My wife is pregnant again.
1410.8.10 My wife delivers a daughter. On a good note Armenia surrenders.
1411.1.24 We have declared war for Homa, our rightful county.
1411.4.21 Our brother in law Prince Subetai aids us in the war for Homs.
1411.11.9 We have taken Homs.
1412.6.30 I am no longer Craven.
1412.12.4 Aswan rebels.
1413.9.9 Aswan is imprisioned and his duchy revoked.
1414.3.4 We go to war with Armenia Minor since he refused the revocation of Karak
1414.9.3 Karak has been revoked.
1414.11.24 King Baudouin IV died in battle against some rebels. Log live Fayiz I.

The regin of Baudouin was one of massive changes. He was the first King to embarce the native culture, liberted troublsome Dukes, and in a secret deal vassalized himself to the Timurids. He leaves behind a 10 year old son and a 6 year old son.

Fayiz

Fayiz is a Leventine Catholic of 10 years old. His ambitious regent and spymaster the Duke of Sinai hates him. Things don't look good for Fayiz.

1416.3.11 We go to war for Monreal.

1416.12.19 The war for Monreal ends, Duke Oultrejourdain won not use but the result is the same. we turn our sights northwards to Tortosa instead.

1417.1.20 My mother wishes to marry. She can marry my friend the Duke of Cairo.

1417.5.17 Tortosa is ours again. We create the Duchy of Tripoli. We go to war for Homs.

1418.3.16 We attempt to revoke Pelusia from Cairo, This is really to ge the duchy from him and get rid of him. There is a 100% chance he will revolt.

1418.7.1 We capture my uncle in battle. Several Dukes were supporting him for my throne. He is executed.

1418.12.17 Cairo is stripped of Pelusia. My mother returns as regent.

1419.5.23 We win the war for Homs.

1420.10.1 I have turned 16 and assumed the thone. The first thing to do is ask the Pope for forgivnesss for the killing of my Uncle. Ten marry a young russian girl.

1420.11.7 I join the faciton to remove the Emporer's peace. That should push it over the top.

1422.3.24 The Pope has called a Crusade for Egypt on my leige, Except that I hold Egypt. The Papacy is also currently located in Egypt. I would love to join the Pope bu thats not possible. Most of europe has joined him. Our armies will not last. We decalre war to remove the Papacy from our territory and hopefull wil lbe done before the Crusade is.

1422.6.9 The pope Excommunicated us. That is understandable.

1423.2.26 My leiges 50,000 men have arrived in Egypt to contest the crusade. They quickly crush the Crusader armies.

1424.3.2 With Egypt safe we have landed over 20,000 men to take Rome.

1424.3.3 My brother will marry a princess of Sweden, when the Crusade ends.

1424.4.17 With the sack of Rome the Pope surrenders to us. Now to get the excommunication lifted and win the Crusade.

1424.5.30 God has blessed me with a son Sa'ud.

1425.3.25 With the proper application of Gold the Pope has lifted my excommunication.

1425.8.8 We are now the Guardian for one of our leiges sons.

1426.4.24 With thier nvolvement in the Crusade now is the time to retake Eritrea.

1426.11.17 Eritrea has returned to its rightful ruler.

1427.10.26 The Crusade for Egypt fails.

1428.12.20 Mt leige has named me court poet.

1430.6.10 My son Sa'ud has turned 6. He is a clear genius and a better man than I am already.

1431.2.4 While my lord is fighting the Shah of Armenia for Mesopotamia we will take the county of Asas.

1431.3.2 Wea re in good graces with the Pope again. He sends us funds vs Armenia.

1431.9.30 Armenia surrenders Asas to us. We will continue to press him for our leige.

1432.5.14 Our leige has won Mesopotamia.

1432.11.12 We fund a new city in Acre.

1433.10.11 I have arranged a betrothal between my son and the Queen of Hungry.

1434.1.15 My wife provides me with another son, Adil.

1434.8.15 I join the independance faction. We are at 105%.

1435.2.26 The Independance war has started.

1435.5.30 Another son. I will name him for myself.

1436.3.13 with the destruction of our armies the independance war is lost.

1436.5.4 We join the plot to assassinate our leige.

1436.6.18 Beja starts rebellion in favor of my brother. He is alone.

1437.7.23 Beja's armies are destroyed. We are seiging his counties. We fund a Bishiporic in Jerusalem.

1438.3.15 Our eldest daughter wil marry Mauretania.

1438.6.30 Beja surrenders.

1438.11.24 I am maimed in a battle I'm not even in.

1439.8.11 King Fayiz has died. Long live Khan Sa'ud.

Fayiz was an interesting character, Leventine but Catholic and the greatest vassal of the Islamic Timurds. He fought off a Crusade for Egypt, and expelled the Pope from his holding in Egypt. The only war he ever lost was the independance war against his leige. The kinslaying of his uncle was held over him as a fault his whole reign, he was excommunicated but also rewarded by the Pope for his work against the Muslim. He leaves a 15 year old son who has the promise to bee the greate king of Jerusalem ever.

Sa'ud

Sa'ud come to the throne 6 months before his birthday. He is a genius, extremly diplomatic and a marvelous steward. He is Kind, Charitable, Patient, Just, and Diligent, in short he has no real flaws. His father has already arranged his marriage to the Queen of Hungry.

1439.8.15 Our leige has released the member sof the Independance faction. We were not member. We are now undoubtedly the most power vassal of our lord. We declare war on Antioch, a former vassal of our leige.

1440.9.6 Personally leading our armies we have defeated Antioch and taken Archa. We declare war opn the Burids for Aleppo.

1440.10.27 The Kagan wishes to marry my mother. We will premit it.

1441.2.13 Aleppo was taken without much struggle. We declare war for Damascus.

1441.10.28 Damascus is ours again.

1442.5.12 My son Fayiz was born.

1442.12.27 We have revoked Manupura and the duchy of Cairo from Leon. He has been a problem for our father and is no longer an issue. We control the entire duchies of Jerusalem and Cairo now.

1443.4.12 At only age 18 Khan Sa'ud died of an illness. His son is less tha n a year old.

Fayiz II

1445.11.10 After a long illness 3 year old Fayiz developed pneumonia.

1446.6.3 The King has recovered.

1451.5.30 My uncle and heir Fayiz has come of age. I will grant him the counties not in my duchies. And since my Chancllor has died recently my Chancellor.

1451.8.4 I have learned proper mongol ways and gone to live with my uncle.

1451.10.17 My uncle says the best way to become a great solider is to learn early and has me declare war on antioch.

1452.1.1 Antioch has fallen. We will give it to our Uncle.

1452.6.2 He says we should punish the allies of Antioch who dared to defy us my declaring war on them and taking our rightful territory of Al Maeraq.

1452.11.1 My uncle has become regent. He would make a good king.

1452.11.27 We have won our 2nd war! Now we start our 3rd for Quena. I have named my uncle the High Cheif of Damascus.
