Terrain Squares
Each peice of terrain should be built on a 12" x 12" square of blue foam board (sold at Lowes). Normal street level will be 1" off the table. This means you need to stack 2 1/2" foam boards (or find 1" foam board for the base but neither Home Depot nor Lowes has it in town. Stacks that are higher than normal should be faced as some sort of terrain, a rock wall or cliff face as they might be visible. The bottom of the foamboard should have 2 strips of velco. We are going to velcro the table so thing wont slide around.

Larger terrain boards are possible as long as the conform to the 12" x 12" pattern. So a 12" x 24" would be ok.

Building Sizes
A building can be any size that fits on the 12" x 12" tile. If it is tall there should be some way to access most of the higher areas; stairs, ladders, or lots of sloped rubble.

Floor Height/Door size etc
2 inches from top of floor to top of floor is a good rule. Its not quite scale but it allows plenty of room for things sticking up from miniatures. See the Scale Page.

Building Access Buildings should have at least 3" of access to the most open face, 5" would be even better. Assume that the edge of a tile is a solid wall for purposes of determining facing of buildings, so no buildings with the open face at the edge pointing outwards.

Access Points All access points ion/off the tile should extend in for at least 1in from the edge before turning.

Roads
We will use two size roads 3" (Alleys) and 5" (Streets)
Alleys can connect on the center of any face, or at the corners.
Streets can only connect on the center of the faces.
If your roads are higher or lower than normal provide portable ramps as appropriate to connect to the standard road level.

Water
Water connects will by 3". It can connect along any face but 1.5 in off center. This means that the water access does not overlap the face Alley access, but would overlap the corner Alley access and Street access.
Water level is at 1/2" off table. That is 1 foam board lower than street access. Cut down channels or lakes as needed. You may also want to provide removeable culverts to place the the tile edge to simulate the water channel going underground of adjacent tiles.
